In a very joy able news, we are happy to tell you that the big players in the telecom industry are working on to bring national roaming services in the country. Let me run you through quickly what a national roaming service is and how will end users benefit from it; users of one particular network (take Jazz for example) will be able to use the cellular services of any other network (Zong for example) in places where the signals of Jazz can’t reach but Zong is. In a nutshell, you’ll be able to use the services of other networks where your personal network isn’t available.

This such venture is aimed towards those who often face connectivity issues while travelling or reside in rural areas. The intention behind this project is resolve connectivity issues over the country and make networking hassle free for everyone. According to some reliable sources, PTA is taking the lead on this initiative; helping the big players resolve issues and find a common ground so the process is smooth. The initiative is said to be in its final phase as according to the sources everything is almost settled between telecom giants, what’s remaining is only small details on which they’re working on.

The country will progress greatly when or if this initiative is completed and becomes operational as it’s a huge inconvenience for the people to switch networks while moving between certain less modernized places. This is especially inconvenient for those users who own single sim mobile phones and need to carry different sims at all times for different places. Through national roaming, this issue will no longer persist as their phones will automatically switch from their network to any other available network will strong signals.

To your surprise there’s an existing network roaming service between Ufone and SCO who, have a bilateral roaming service agreement that offers roaming voice & SMS services in AJ&K and GB to Ufone subscribers. It is rumored that the national roaming service will be initiated in Baluchistan which has the highest number of connectivity issues since the area consists of mostly rural areas and seldom you are in the range of any telecom network available. Following suite, expansion will begin in other rural and deserving remote areas which suffer due to low connectivity, expanding there would be a real challenge because if it was easy other companies would have already done so.

Here’s hoping everyone gets to enjoy this service very soon. Cheers!
