A US based global satellite broadband provider Starlink’s delegation led by Director Middle East and Asia, Ryan Goodnight, and Head of Global Site Acquisition, Ben Macwilliam, visited Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Headquarters, Islamabad, today (13 - Dec - 21).

They met with Chairman PTA, Maj General Amir Azeem Bajwa (R), and Executive Director, Frequency Allocation Board. Chairman PTA informed Starlink’s officials that PTA would support them in accordance with Pakistan’s regulatory framework for Starlink’s operations.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters pertaining to the provision of satellite broadband connectivity in Pakistan and Starlink’s future plans for connecting Pakistan to their global network.

PTA chairman briefed Starlink representatives on the Prime Minister’s vision for Digital Pakistan and the opportunities for quality broadband internet in Pakistan’s developing market.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX providing satellite Internet access to most of the Earth. SpaceX launches up to 60 satellites at a time, aiming to deploy 1,584 of the 570 LB (260 KG) spacecraft to provide near-global service by late 2021 or 2022.
