FERN Secured 2nd Place In Formula Student Russia 2021
The NUST racing car team has achieved a feat this week after finishing 2nd in an online competition. The team, Formula Electric Racing NUST (FERN), from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) participated in Formula Student Russia 2021 and was the only team representing Pakistan.
FERN was founded in 2014 and has since held the flag of Pakistan high on different occasions. FERN is the first team from Pakistan who has designed a “single-seated”, “open cockpit” electrical formula racecar. Since then the team has participated in Formula SAE Electric US in 2016 and was the only Pakistani team participating.
The team has then participated in the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Formula Student UK in 2018. This year FERN participated in Formula Student UK 2021 and got the third position among the 65 international participants present from around the world. The event was held at Silverstone Circuit.
The team also participated in Formula Student Russia 2021 and achieved an overall position at 2nd. The team for 2nd position in EV category, 2nd position in design event, 2nd position in Business Plan Presentation and 2nd position in Cost and Manufacturing.
The dedication of the team has since been appreciated by the President of Pakistan honestly. The team was also awarded an appreciation price award presented in the segment 'HBL PSL Hamaray Heros" during this year's PSL edition.
