Google has updated Play Store's policy to allow integration of digital assets, mainly NFTs, into its apps and games, as announced by the company’s group product manager, Joseph Mills. This would allow developers to allow the use of crypto and NFTs in their apps.

Mills further stated that as part of the new policy update, they require that developers be "transparent with users about tokenized digital assets". As such, the developers will have to disclose their app's status as a blockchain game/app on its on the Play Store page.

Reddit, after seeing success in its crypto wallets and NFT avatars, has now partnered with Google to help with this new policy.

Playing Safe

As a safety measure, developers are not allowed "promote or glamorize any potential earning from playing or trading activities", which means the use of digital assets should not be advertised as a means to earn money, but rather allow NFTs to unlock in-app content (regardless of where the NFT was purchased from).

These measures are meant to protect users from typical scams and get-rich schemes, which are very common these days. This would create a safe environment for users to explore crypto. Although from historic evidence, it's likely that some will still find a way around it and end up scamming people anyways.

In any case, it's best to stay safe and be aware of scams, even in your everyday life. Most scams only work by targeting the perfect audience that wants to get rich and don't have proper knowledge of internet scams.
