This Mobile app captures biometric information – fingerprints, facial recognition and scans documents using the smartphone’s in-built camera needed for CNIC processing.

This app will allow all natives plus expatriates to digitally capture fingerprints, pictures and documents, this special app being introduced is a great step towards ending the traditional means of specialized equipment and physical papers for processing ID’s. The Chairman of Nadra spoke in a press release; “The innovation will revolutionize the National ID ecosystem in Pakistan by providing public convenience,” He further went on to say that the digital dividends of such a technological innovation would yield positive results in financial inclusion, ease of doing business, and e-governance initiatives, by offering remote identification and e-Know Your Customer (KYC).

The Nadra Chairman said that this modern mobile app will be the beginning of a new era it would open “new vistas” for businesses allowing them to be rapidly onboard users and provide modern password-less authentication. He further stated that small businesses, startups and fintech organizations will also be able to harvest their digital dividends as rent-seekers will be eliminated and the cost of conducting business will reduce, the offering of digital goods will stimulate young entrepreneurship and promote e-services.

A major chunk of the Digital Pakistan initiative is to provide ease to people by saving their time. The Pakistan ID app will cut down all the excess time that people used to spend in long queues outside the NADRA’s office. Everything will be tackled digitally and the whole process of applying for a NIC would become a lot easier.

NADRA introduced an online facility for the citizens and overseas Pakistanis to apply for their computerized national identity cards (CNICs) by providing details on the Pak Identity website – It is an easy and convenient 3 step method that requires; Registration, Fee submission, and online application. After submitting the online application, it will be processed by NADRA and the ID card will be delivered to your address.
