Three Pakistani students; Bhagchand Meghwar and Iqra Fatima won the Sixth Huawei ICT Competition 2021-2022. Deputy chief executive officer of Huawei Pakistan Ahmed Bilal Masud honored these students with his kind words. According to him, “here is no replacement for devotion and hard work as seen by the success of Pakistani students who attend schools without walls in the international Huawei competition”.

These awe-inspiring students bested rivals from different parts of the world at the Global Final of the event that was held in Shenzhen, China. The other competitors in the competition were informed Mr. Sateesh Kumar’s extraordinary circumstances that he was a resident of a closed off remote village of Tharparkar which is not even recognized in the maps. Additionally, Bhagchand Meghwar belonged to an unknown village in Dadu District in the Sindh Province.

Following these revelations, Deputy chief executive officer of Huawei Pakistan Ahmed Bilal Masud spoke again that “This proves that now, nobody in Pakistan can say that they lack resources, internet at homes or there was not enough support to make a name, these gentlemen did not even have walls in the schools they went to for initial learning.” He added that the third person among the winners is a female and if she’s able to overcome all the odds, why can’t the others.

To probe into participant Iqra Fatima’s background, she hails from Bahawalpur and went for higher studies in Bahawalpur University. The two other winners, both of them studied from Mehran University Jamshoro.

About the competition

This competition is announced every year by Huawei and everyone, especially fresh graduates are encouraged to participate, especially if they are confident in their IT skills. However, the actual criterion for selection is extremely tough as out of 120,000 applicants in Pakistan, only six made the cut.

Following this, two teams were made by Huawei managers, team 1 and 2 for Pakistan. Team 1, which included the current laurel winners, was led by Sateesh Kumar, who remained undefeated and beat all their opponents all the way to the global finale.
