Arshad Nadeem From Pakistan Makes History By Reaching Finals at Tokyo Olympics

Arshad Nadeem has become Pakistan's first athlete to qualify for the finals in Olympics, by achieving a throw of 86.39m setting his personal best.

Arshad Nadeem has become Pakistan's first athlete to qualify for the finals in the Javelin Throw Olympics, with a personal best throw of 86.39m. This record was set during Iran's Imam Reza contest this year.

Arshad Nadeem has become Pakistan's first athlete to qualify for the finals in Javelin Throw Olympics, by achieving a throw of 86.39m setting his personal best. This record was set during Iran's Imam Reza contest this year.

The Pakistan Olympic Association said that Nadeem had a tremendous throw of 85.16 metres, as he secured the third place in the qualifying round. Lieutenant General Syed Arif Hasan, President of Pakistan Olympic Association congratulated Arshad Nadeem, and his coach Syed Fiaz Hussain Bokari for the record setting performance and securing third position.

For his first attempt, he was able to throw as far as 78.5m, but in the second try, he set the record of 85.16m, placing him on top of group B, and placing him on 3rd position in the contest, the second being Johannes Vetter from Germany (85.64m), and first being Neeraj Chopra from India, with a throw of 86.65m.

He established a new South Asian Games record in In December 2019, Javelin throw with a distance of 86.29 m. This helped him secure his qualification in the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Looking at his previous record going as far as 86.39m, it's fair to assume that he can go beyond that and set yet another personal best. Once wanted to be a cricketer, prior to Olympics, he said he's aiming to achieve a 90m throw in Olympics. He will be competing for the Medal on Saturday, August 7th, in the finals of Javelin Throw, Tokyo 2020.
