Today, we will talk about what the Mavic Air 2 offers and should you buy it in Pakistan.

Specifications

The DJI Mavic Air 2 is a beast in terms of size, price, and performance. It offers a video camera that can capture video at 4K 60 Frames Per Second. If you're planning to buy this one, you probably already know what that means. But in case you don't, it gives you more smooth footage and allows for a slow-motion effect in the post if you want. A normal video is usually either 24 or 30 FPS. Moreover, it has probably THE best battery life that any drone, or at least DJI has to offer, giving you a flight time of over 30 minutes up to 34 minutes.

DJI also offers a 48-megapixel photo mode, and many other photo modes including a 180 and 360-degree panorama mode, hyper-lapse mode with up to 8K resolution RAW images. There's much more that this drone offers but the full specs can be seen on a lot of websites, including DJI's official website.

The best features of this drone are on the video side. For starters, it can capture 4K HDR video (although only in 30 FPS), which gives the video a more vibrant and high dynamic range look. Secondly, you can capture video in DJI's D-Cinelike Log profile that gives you more dynamic range and data to work with in post, if you're into the editing and color grading thing. Moreover, it has DJI's Active Track feature that can follow a subject including but not limited to a vehicle or a person.

To top it off, the drone also has a maximum distance range of 10KM which is awesome. However, it may not go that distance in real-life situations. Still, it's a nice-to-have in terms of signal interference, and in my tests in the city, I went as far as 3km and back, although I had to adjust the controller's angle to keep the connection stable. Want more? Well, it's got back! With Mavic Air 2, you can capture slow-motion video at 1080p FHD 240FPS. This means up to 8X slow motion compared to a normal 30 FPS video.

The Competitor, Mavic 2 Pro

If you're in the market for a drone even more powerful than this, DJI has a Mavic 2 Pro. It is older than the Mavic Air 2 but has some features that make it better than the Air 2. The Mavic 2 Pro has a 1" camera sensor, while the Air 2 has a 1/2" sensor. This, in short, means that the 2 Pro will have better colors and better low-light performance. Moreover, it can record in a 10-bit format which allows for more color information, useful for editing and color grading. These two are probably the biggest features it has over the Mavic Air 2.

On the other hand, it does come with some disadvantages over the Air 2. For Instance, the Mavic 2 Pro can't record 4K video at 60 Frames per second. This can be important to some people. Both of these drones have a similar battery life, but the Mavic Air 2 is still slightly ahead. Further, the Mavic 2 Pro costs almost twice as much, so it's a tough decision, especially for a beginner.

Buying This Drone Pakistan

If you plan to buy this, or any drone in Pakistan, here are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, as of writing this article, you can't import a drone in Pakistan without heavy trouble and fees. This is why the sellers may give you no official warranty for the drones. Secondly, if you do buy it from a seller, make sure to fly it safely and get permission where possible. you MUST NOT attempt to fly a drone over sensitive locations, such as over Mazar-e-Quaid, Saddar area, or offices, especially at Sea View area.

I was also told by a seller that the drone is a US version, which means it should have a feature known as ADS-B. This is a feature that lets you see nearby aircraft in a map window on your phone. However, upon contact with DJI support, they told me that my drone isn't the US version but the Shenzen version. While the seller kept denying that and even got angry at me for contacting the support. This may not be of any concern as it's not very important but just thought you should know.
